Executive Director, Cultural Management, Flute

Maria Kosa is a flautist, educator and cultural manager based in Vienna. She founded the International Music Academy in September 2011, motivated by the lack of suitable educational facilities for her numerous students after completing their studies. Her goal was to create a high-quality music school that emphasizes cultural, musical and linguistic diversity. Over a decade later, the academy has developed into a well-coordinated team and is thriving at two locations in Vienna.

A graduate of the Vienna Conservatory in concert flute, Maria has regularly attended master classes and workshops with some of the world's finest flutists, including Auréle Nicolet, Emmanuel Pahud, Sir James Galway, Paul Edmund Davies, Wissam Boustany, Carin Levine and Ian Clarke. Her thorough training and dedication to her craft are reflected in her teaching and artistic work.

Since 2018, Maria has been a board member of the Austrian Flute Society and works together with her colleagues to reshape and promote the Austrian flute scene. Together with the board, she organizes and leads numerous master classes, concerts and workshops, including the biennial Austrian Flute Festival, an established international event. In 2020, she was elected to the board of the European Flute Council, where she works on strategically important and sustainable projects focused on educational and artistic development across Europe.

As an educator, Maria places special emphasis on health issues and challenges in early flute training. She offers tools and solutions for a balanced and relaxed development of young students by training flute teachers worldwide.

Maria's professional life is both exciting and inspiring, characterized by her continuous work as an educator and her involvement in various events. Her dedication to the latest developments in the flute world and her contributions to the world of music make her an outstanding personality in this field.
